MOC Stage Build Lego Display

This is an updated to my previous post about the building techniques used to make a display to video and photograph Speed Champion models.

Previously I was using a single wall setup and changing the patterns for different setups, but now I have created a dual wall setup combining these patterns.

I have included images of the different components so you can see how it is built. There are also sample patterns showing brick selection process.

I was asked

How did you make the background/garage look superb?!

At first I thought this was a question about the lighting, but actually they were asking about the look and design of the actual build. I figured other people might also be interested in my build style. Show I’ll post response here.

This was built as a stage for me to take video and photos. I wanted something that had a semi realistic look and feel. To achieve this I made an arrangement of different liner and block patters mixing with bricks of different texture and shades. Using light and dark bricks to help give visual depth.

Since I wanted to easily change up the patter to use in different photo setups I came up with a set of patterns that I could quickly change to customize the set. You can see in the image I provided that I also included some studs to add color panels to match the cars or brand.

I have included several example images to show variations. I hope this helps explain the build. Feel free to ask questions.

The First Royal Sword Ship: RSS Iron Saber 001

The first RSS prototype built would be RSS Iron Saber 001; Iron Man themed, it would go through many revisions. Even before that was finished I began building the second RSS prototype RSS Captain Rogers; Captain America themed. Since then I have build hundreds of other saber, knife, and sword like weapons. 

RSS Iron Saber has gone through many updates since 2018 when it first began to take shape.  By 2023 I had already built RSS Spider-Man 001 and RSS Captain Rogers 001 but still have not quite finished it. Before coming up with the RSS idea I had made 6 other LEGO swords. 

This small collection was only the beginning of what quickly grew from 20 to 30, by 2019 I had made close to 100 different Lego swords experimenting with all kinds of techniques to build swords that you can swing around. I came up with many different ways to make blades and handles that could resist falling apart under the swinging stress.

RSS Captain Rogers 001

The second RSS prototype built RSS Captain Rogers; Captain America themed. I would begin working on the this new project before finishing RSS Iron Saber.

After creating a base look and feel, I then looked for old Captain America sets that I could integrate into what I had created. I picked 2017 set 76076 Captain America Jet Pursuit It was already hard to find in 2018, but it had some key elements that I wanted to include like the Cpt. Rogers name plate and the printed star pieces.

You Were the Center of My Everything

There was a time I loved you so much that you were the center of my everything...

Your gravity drew me in so close nothing else mattered...

When I slept I thought of you
When I worked I thought of you
No matter what I did all I could do was think of you...

Every day when I woke up and saw you next to me
I felt like the luckiest man in the world...

You completed every aspect of who I was and what I had always dreamed of...

I felt content to live that moment forever...

Then one day our gravity broke and we started to drift apart. I tried so hard to do everything I could to get back into your center but nothing I did worked...

We continued to drift further and further apart...

The part of me that you needed most was so lost and depleted
I couldn't even call for help...

I did not know where to turn
So I fell deep inside myself...

So far at times that I could barley even see
My world began to go dark without your light...

The pain became so unbearable that all I could do was hide...

I never meant to leave you alone but soon I was so lost in a place so dark
I could no longer even find myself...

The further we drifted apart the darker it became...

When all your light was gone I gave up hope and began to die...

All my shame became a great big lie...

Some how some way if I believed we were ok
Then things would work out maybe some day
Your light would come back to me...

Then I would again see how your gravity meant so much to me...

I would be drawn near and held closely
Back to that place where nothing else mattered...

Just you just me and the love we had together...

Unfortunately when the light in my world began to shin again and I could see a path for me to be free of the darkness you were nowhere to be found...

I looked and looked as my world became brighter and brighter
But still I could not see you...

I did not know what to do and still felt so lost without you...

Eventually my world was as bright as could be but still no gravity...

I found my self to be lost in a world of light because my purpose was gone...

Now it is just me learning to move on...

Magandang Umaga Blazing Araw

Just past 8:00 AM
The sun is blazing down on me...

Sweltering rays
Sweat rolls down the back of my neck

My lucky sombrero shading my eyes
The twinkle of glass and metallic surfaces
Gleam back with pure intensity.

Pasyal forward I will
Drinking water
Cool from within.

Dark ragged skin of those passing by
Have no choice but to live under the sun...
Already aged twice their years...

Dry so dry...
Hardly any sign of sweat.
A rag protrudes from that back

My Ability To See

Don't deny me
Don't deny me
Don't deny my ability to see
What I see you know me

Don't deny me
By saying that I don't understand
When you know I am hurting Just like you...

I know this pain insides is deep
I was there when our hearts were in That love affair...

I know how it feels when you look over and the one you want is not there...

No Substitute

No Substitute

Sometimes there is no substitute for doing it the right way or having the right tool.

Don't reach for a wrench when you need a hammer...
Don't call an electrician when you need a plumber...

Don't skip steps to save time...
Don't stitch once when you know you need nine...

Always measure twice before you cut...
Always make a plan before you begin...

Never put things off that can be done...
Never waste that which you know you need to conserve...

Remember the best time to fix that which is broken is when it breaks...
The best time to replace that which is used up is when you finish it...

It is always easier to do ten things one at a time then ten things all at one time.

You make goals so you know when something has been achieved...
Achievements are made when you set goals...

Sometimes there is no substitute for doing it the right way or having the right tool the first time...
